NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Heeney Capital (“Heeney”), a U.S. private investment and operating firm focused on critical minerals, strategic resources, and industrial supply chains, today celebrated the arrival and unloading of the first shipment of primary aluminum to the United States from Venezuela in nearly a decade. The 15,000-ton shipment arrived at the Port of Avondale in New Orleans, Louisiana. Heeney hosted U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana), and Representative Julia Letlow (R-Louisiana), on Monday, October 5, 2026, to mark the milestone.

The aluminum was transported from Venezuela to the Port of Avondale, where it will support American manufacturing. The shipment represents a step toward restoring a supply corridor that once made Venezuela one of the hemisphere’s leading aluminum exporters, and reflects a broader effort by Heeney and its partners to rebuild U.S. access to critical materials from the region.
